I got an opportunity to read a review of the event from one of out fellow runners, and could not help sharing this with the readers here. I too expected something similar, but I guess this goes even beyond what I thought. The author below comes to the right conclusion - runs should be organized by runners, only. Here it goes then ...

Just heard this great news. The plan to finalize the Mumbai Marathon 2010 route is taking shape, and the newly built architectural marvel of Mumbai, the Bandra-Worli sea link, is very much a part of it! So, come the race day on Jan 17th, the full marathon runners at the Mumbai marathon might as well be pounding through this unique piece of excellence and beauty.

I registered on the first day of Novice registrations at Comrades Marathon 2010, i.e. Nov 1st, and later got the shock of my life on learning that registrations closed on Nov 2nd as all 5,000 novice places were taken within 27 hours! Taking it a little easy, and I would have blown my chances.
